Accepted video formats and codecs

Hi,
Based on the diagram on your landing page, you specify that it is no longer necessary to transcode the videos via ffmpeg. So I searched and unfortunately didn’t find an answer, but could you please confirm that it is not absolutely necessary to upload MP4 H264 / H265 videos and if so, which codecs and video formats are accepted on api.video?

Hi Sylvain,
That’s right, there is no need to transcode your videos before the upload or with an other solution: we’ll take care of transcoding your MP4/MPEG/AVI/WMV (etc) into many flavors, in the HLS we return or in MP4

What formats are supported for upload to api.video? We use libavcodec to encode the videos into api.video. This library is constantly being updated, so rather than list a snapshot of formats, please refer to the Wikipedia page for libavcodec for a comprehensive and up to date list.
